If you're considering transferring your benefits out of the Police Pension Scheme, the following information will help you understand the process, and how to investigate further.

 

Requesting a Transfer Value

If you are an active member, you cannot transfer your benefits to another provider.

If you are a deferred member then you, or a third party with your written authority, may request a Transfer-Out quotation from the Administration team by completing the 'Met Police Transfer Out CETV Request Form'. If you have more than 2 years pensionable service within the Met Police Pension Scheme you will also need to send the 'Met Police Transfer Out - Receiving Scheme Eligibility' form to the receiving to confirm certain criteria is met.

Please ensure both forms (where pensionable service is more than 2 years) are submitted together, a CETV cannot be provided until both forms have been received.

Transfer Out CETV Process

What we will do

We will send you a CETV (Cash-Equivalent Transfer Value) statement and all appropriate documentation.

As you have defined benefits, these will be guaranteed for 3 months if you are below your normal retirement age. Please note than you can only transfer your benefits to a Defined Benefit Scheme. If you wish to proceed, you must complete the discharge forms and return them to us with any other documents requested. If this does not happen within 3 months, a payment of £160 plus VAT will be required to recalculate the transfer value.

Whatever your benefits, once we can proceed, we will pay your transfer value to your chosen arrangement and confirm completion of the process to you. You will then no longer have any benefits remaining under the Scheme.
